Governing Elders Update:
The Governing Elders have voted to extend a call to Emily Holehan as Calvary’s Pastor of Connection. Emily has been working under contract with Calvary, but with the Pastor of Connection position included in our six year budgeting plan, the Governing Elders feel a call is appropriate as we move forward. It is not unusual for a pastor under contract to transition to a pastor under call. In addition, the Governing Elders have been working with the Holland Classis to follow the appropriate steps in this process.
Making a call to Emily is a way to affirm the relationship that Calvary wants to continue with her. A call is a powerful symbol sealing this sacred relationship. In addition, Emily feels a sense of calling to Calvary and the vision we embody. It is a way to honor the work she is already doing and a signal to the future - to the commitment we have to the growth of Calvary and our relationship with Emily as our Pastor.
Now that the Governing Elders have voted, the question will move to Full Consistory, who will vote on April 29. The congregation will be able to vote on making a call to Emily during the congregational meeting on May 18.
